Revenge Girl Storyline

Miki Takaraishi is a smart and beautiful 24-year-old woman, but her personality is not as good. She falls in love with Yuga Saito, who is handsome and comes from a politician family. They see each other romantically, but Yuga dumps Miki. To get revenge on Yuga, Miki decides to run for prime minister. For her election campaign, she hires Toshiya Kadowaki as her campaign strategist.

A boring and unrealistic storyline does not make for a good movie…

When I sat down to watch the 2017 Japanese movie “Revenge Girl” (aka “Ribenji girl”), I must admit that I thought I would be in for more of an entertaining movie that what this movie turned out to be.

First of all, the storyline in the movie was just utter rubbish. It was so far out there that I just couldn’t believe in it for even a moment, not even if I tried. I mean, a super shallow and vague woman with the sensitivity of a rock and the compassion towards other people equal to a bottle of poison, running for a prime minister position just to get even with a guy who dumped her. Seriously? Who comes up with this kind of nonsense? I suppose writer Erika Yoshida is the person in this case.

And director Kôichirô Miki wasn’t really succeeding in bringing the horrible storyline to life on the screen. And the fact that the characters in the movie were rigid, wooden and completely unlikely was just working well against the movie actually achieving some kind of appeal to the audience.

Sure, the acting performances in the movie were adequate enough, but since the actors and actresses had terrible character to work with, it was just a losing uphill battle.

I managed to sit through about an hour of this approximately two hour long movie. And let me just tell you straight out that I wasn’t entertained the least bit. I just gave up at that point, having given the movie several chances to win me over, as I had been tempted to turn it off a couple of times up to that point.

My rating of “Revenge Girl” lands on a mere two out of ten stars, and that is based solely on the production value of the movie. This was a massive swing and a miss of a movie, and it is definitely not a movie that I would recommend you wasting your time, money or effort upon watching.

What an absolutely ridiculous and stupid movie

The main protagonist, a narcissistic, self-absorbed c-word of a woman decides to take revenge on her equally a-holish supposed boyfriend after finding out he is a casanova. Because he is from a rich dynasty, the only way to get back at him is to become prime minister which she proceeds to do. Not only is the story completely retarded, she isn’t a likeable character at all, so you basically just wish for her to get hit by a truck and the movie to be over.

Makes no sense

I mean the girl (and the replacement rival) are skinny and gorgeous.Love them and fantasize about them. But who would drop her? Which men would drop a girl that looks like that??
