The Dustwalker Movie Reviews

I know my rocks

The film takes place in a small western Australia town near Beacon. Joanne Sharp (Jolene Anderson) is the law in the town, one that has a jail. Two objects fall from space and people become infected turning into zombies who attack other folks. There is a dust storm that isolates the town and a large alien creature.

PLOT SPOILER: It was easy to figure out the two objects. One was bad, the other was here to save us. However, there is more revealed at the very end which could turn into a more interesting sequel. The characters were bland and underdeveloped.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Science Fiction horror mish mash

Generally speaking it is not a bad thing, if you copy something that was succesful. It would still be nice if you could be able to do at least some form of spin to it – one that works for you and the viewers.

This really tries to conjur up a theme and a mood that is supposed to carry through the whole film. Unfortunately it does not work … at all. It is a shame, the acting is not helping either (not blaming them mind you, just pointing out they can’t save the mess either) … maybe this will find some who will like what it is trying to do and has no issues with the pacing, the not great special fx (budget wise you should not expect much anyway) and the inconsistencies this has all the way through … I’ve seen worse and some points for the blood and violence it does not shy away from.

Boredom walks among us…

I had the opportunity to sit down and watch the 2019 Australian sci-fi thriller from writer and director Sandra Sciberras here in 2021. Sure, I hadn’t even ever heard about the movie prior to stumbling up on it. But it being a movie that I hadn’t already seen was actually sufficient to make me sit down and watch it.

And without knowing the movie, I didn’t have any expectations to writer and director Sandra Sciberras, so there was every opportunity to impress and bedazzle me with “The Dustwalker”.

However, “The Dustwalker” was an insanely boring and pointless movie that just failed to entertain me. The storyline here was just unfathomably slow paced and whatever did happen as the movie went along at snail pace was just not sufficient to prove to be entertaining or interesting. So it was an ordeal to suffer through the movie, trust me.

The storyline was bland, mundane and pointless, and the characters equally so. And I just never could take in the concept of the whole thing nor the strange sound that no human vocal cords can make, but that the people were able to make nonetheless.

I managed to endure a bit more than half of the movie, and then just gave up on the ordeal out of sheer and utter boredom. And believe you me, I have no intentions of returning to watch the rest of the movie.

My rating of “The Dustwalker” lands on a two out of ten stars. Do not waste your time, money or effort on this 2019 sci-fi thriller.
