The Comeback Storyline
Jeff and Tisa Murray have decided to move their family back to their hometown of Atlanta when Tisa is offered her dream job. The dream becomes a regretful reality when family issues, Mom’s new boyfriend, and ex-lovers are waiting on them upon their return. What follows is a hilarious story about coping with issues that were long swept under the rug while trying to handle the day to day craziness that families experience when they’re all reunited after years apart.

Breath of fresh authenticity
I was looking forward to this when I first saw this pop-up. As far a comedy goes, there were some parts that were funny giving me a chuckle, but all in all is was more drama than anything else. The story was a tad slow but probably needed in order to develop the characters and their family dynamic. A change in family dynamic can REALLY affect everyone. I thought that was very authentic. The other, bigger authenticity that I saw was the relationship between Tay and April characters. They’re arguing fighting but still loving each other is very very authentic. I have been in situations like that with my wife. In fact I thought I was the only one who ever did this. But when Tay gave her the middle fingers as she stormed out, that was FANTASTIC. I’ve never seen that in a movie so it was definitely a breath of fresh authenticity.
Love April and Taye !!
I enjoy the Comback. It was fun to watch a lighthearted black movie full of heart. Taye and April’s chemistry is amazing. They kind of reminded me of chemistry that Tony and Angela had on Who’s The Boss. Taye is so funny and April plays off him so great. I was surprised to find this movie. I had no idea they made a movie. To see a loving movie full of different family dynamics is refreshing. I hope to see these two pair up again and again. We need more fun loving romantic comedys with a feel good ending. The Peacock network picked a winner by airing The Comeback. The little girl was a bit much. I am sure that smart little girl will do big things in the future.
LOVED IT AND WANTED MORE
While the script could have been a bit more developed, I loved the chemistry of the actors and the ease at which they carried the story. Taye and Apryl have a natural chemistry. While I believe she may be more of a novice, she held her own. The comeback is a great platform to introduce her to a broader audience and movie makers. I hope to see more performances in her future. As usual, Taye was amazing!!! His performance seemed to naturally elevate the cast’s performances. The plot was realistic and the young girl who plays their daughter is phenomenal! The supporting cast was talented as well.
