Resident Evil: Death Island Storyline
D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit. Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently. Following that clue, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them.

Better than expected.
I have watched all the previous animated films that is at home since they were direct to video. This is the first film I have watched at the cinema. The previous movies were not at all as good as this one and it shows. They put a lot more care into the characters this time.
And the story is pretty decent for a resident evil movie. Much better than the forgettable Netflix series and the live action movie from a couple years ago.
Good voice acting, which is expected considering they are mostly the same from the resident evil remake games.
There were some cheesy one liners from leon which was nice, a few dumb jokes but enjoyable ones.
Pleasing action thats over the top that would be satisfying for any fan of the franchise.
And overall a decent ending to the movie.
It’s not too long and is an enjoyable movie if you like the games.
Would definitely recommend seeing it.
Probably the best RE film adaptation.
The Resident Evil franchise isn’t a stranger to film adaptation. It’s been a thing since 2002. Unfortunately, none of them really felt like a true adaptation of the source material. Whether it be the godawful fanfics by Paul WS Anderson or the really bad attempt at combining two stories like Welcome to Raccoon City. RE just doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to film.
The CG films are an exception. They’re canon and present the characters as they are in the games. They’re unapologetically Resident Evil, for better or for worse. The things I always disliked about this film is how they treat some of their legacy characters. Chris and Leon get to be at the forefront of these films. Yet iconic characters like Claire and Rebecca are put at wayside to be damsels in distress, when the games have showcased how capable they are. My biggest fear with Resident Evil: Death Island was that they were going to take the series most iconic female protagonist, Jill Valentine, and make her a damsel in distress.
Well, I’m happy to say that isn’t case and that Jill is actually at forefront of the film and continuing her story from RE5. That’s not to say everybody else in the film doesn’t get their time to shine. Everyone has their moment, even characters like Claire and Rebecca who were treated so poorly in previous projects are given their moments. Leon and Chris still kick ass and make a pretty good team alongside Jill.
The action is great and the animation is solid. There are some references to prior RE games and CG movies, but they don’t take up all the screen time like Welcome to Raccoon City and are merely there for story purposes. The interactions between characters are great. The most notable being between the franchises two most iconic leads, Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy. This is the first time in the series that we get to see these two work together and the banter between them is awesome.
This movie like the other CG projects is also unapologetically Resident Evil, for better and for worse. For better, because it’s over the top and cheesy and feels right at home in the RE canon. For worse, because the story is rather predictable as it’s mostly every RE story ever told and because the main villian is kinda dumb and his motivations are rather weak. Which sucks, because the past couple of RE games had some great villains with the Baker family and the 4 lords.
That being said, this is a film specifically made for RE fans. So while it may not find an audience outside of that crowd, I think us RE fans found a film that we will love. I know that I do.
The Best Resident Evil CGI Movie ever
I recently had the opportunity to warch Resident Evil Death Island and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. As a fan of the series, it was exciting to see how the CGI graphics have evolved since the first installment. The attention to detail was impressive and the use of the RE3 remake’s RE Engine for Jill Valentine’s appearance was a smart choice. The movie felt like a redemption arc for Jill after her long disappearance since 2009. It was gratifying to see her character brought back to the forefront and given the attention she deserves. One of the things that stood out to me was how the movie did an excellent job of giving all the main characters equal attention and screen time. I was particularly impressed with how Leon, Claire, Jill, Chris, and Rebecca all had their moments to shine. It was refreshing to see such a diverse cast of characters come together and work as a team. Their interactions were natural and flowed seamlessly, making it easy to get lost in the story. The chemistry between Jill and Leon was undeniable and added to the overall excitement of the movie. It was thrilling to see two beloved characters come together and work towards a common goal. The brief duel between them was a highlight of the movie and showcased their respective abilities. I couldn’t help but wonder what other adventures they could have together in future games. While the plot of the movie might seem predictable to some, what sets this particular installment apart is the fact that we get to witness the main characters team up for the very first time. It was exciting to watch beloved characters come together and interact in new and unexpected ways, and this movie definitely delivered on that front. The ending scene perfectly captured the sense of camaraderie and teamwork that the characters had developed throughout the film. It left me feeling hopeful for what the future might hold for the Resident Evil franchise. Overall, I highly recommend this movie to any fan of the series or anyone looking for a thrilling and entertaining action movie.
