Waktu Maghrib Storyline

Adi, Saman, and Ayu live in Jatijajar, a remote Central Java village. Having to help their family in the fields, Adi and Saman are often late for school. As a result, the two of them are often punished by Mrs. Woro, their strict teacher. One day, Adi and Saman’s resentment toward Mrs. Woro peaks. They swear at her and even hope that the teacher will die. This oath is pronounced simultaneously as the Maghrib call to prayer. Not long after, Mrs. Woro dies tragically. Since then, Adi and Saman are experiencing a terrifying supernatural terror. There is a mysterious spirit in a teacher’s uniform, just like the one Mrs. Woro wore when she died. Over time, terror threatens not only physically but also their souls. After slaughtering the village head’s pet chicken, Saman fights his brother to death. After carrying out this bloody action, the teenager falls into a trance and commits suicide just as the Maghrib call to prayer resounds. Ayu suspects that there is a more frightening evil force behind this series of events. If she doesn’t do something, Adi will have the same fate.

Beyond my expectation – Good horror movie

Entering the cinema hall with fewer expectations, but after watching, I changed my mind because this movie was beyond my expectation. I can feel the horror. The horror depends not only on jumpscare but also on the vibes and the people from the village. The opening scene about what happened 30 years ago was connected with all the tragedies in the movie. It was inspired by the short movie “Waktu Maghrib’ on Youtube. For Muslims, it was written in the Quran that we are prohibited from going out at dusk. This movie shows the reality that it might happen in real life. The storyline was great, and the plot twist was perfect. The actor and actress embody the character very well.
