Betrayed by My Bridesmaid Movie Reviews

Nontraditional Casting and Good Storyline!

Finally, Lifetime produced a movie with diverse characters and a believable storyline, along with a great title. Excellent casting of Joy Sung Kim. Also some touching and emotional moments between the groom and his mother. A fun bachelorette party with a surprise stripper provides for extra entertainment. If you have been begging for a Lifetime movie with a diverse cast, this is it, doctors, best friends, and even the groom fit the bill. A great movie to watch if you’re in a wedding party or better yet, about to get married. The writers, director, actors and Lifetime are to be commended, kudos!

Not good!

There were many things in this movie that made no sense! Her sister videotapes the bridemaids betrayal and, instead of just texting it to her sister she goes to the bridesmaid! Then the bride gets caught in the room with a fire set by the same bridesmaid which just started and yet she doesn’t go to the bathroom and just turn in the water to put it out! AND during the last struggle, all she does is elbow the fiance and he falls down while the bride is being choked such that her sister has to help! Such bad writing. Diversity was the only good thing about this! Good premise but just bad writing.

Watch Your Back, Katie!

“Betrayed by My Bridesmaid” includes some of the most obnoxious characters imaginable. Katie and Tom, a sweet couple, are preparing for their wedding. But at every stage, something goes terribly wrong that embarrasses the couple and even places Katie’s life in danger.

The characters were too slow in realizing that someone hates Katie and is trying to sabotage her wedding. Even when a note is received that is a clear threat to Katie, the contents are dismissed with the only suspect being Katie’s wayward sister Connie. But it soon becomes apparent that Connie is being framed by one of the other bridesmaids.

On the IMDb site, the Marvista production team has provided a capsule summary that gives away the identity of the jealous and vindictive bridesmaid. So much for any suspense, surprise, or plot twists here!

The film lapsed into comedy toward the end with a wild scene in a hotel in which the cheap hotel room door was easily kicked in to rescue Katie from a fire. Even the bachelorette party with male strippers was pretty lame. While there were some colorful locations, the film lacked substance in its characters and has little to recommend it. For a drama of pre-wedding mix-ups and confusion, nothing can surpass Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
