Stamped from the Beginning Storyline
Some Americans cling desperately to the myth that we are living in a post-racial society, that the election of the first Black president spelled the doom of racism. In fact, racist thought is alive and well in America, more sophisticated and more insidious than ever. And as award-winning historian Dr. Ibram X. Kendi argues in “Stamped from the Beginning,” if we have any hope of grappling with this stark reality, we must first understand how racist ideas were developed, disseminated, and enshrined in American society.

Stamped from the Beginning Movie Reviews
To the user who rated 2 stars, titled “half truths”
“First lie found less than 10 minutes in. Netflix has a poor track record of producing factual documentaries. It begins with stating the Portuguese began slave trading and was the first offender of such. As we know, slave trading has existed since the dawn of civilization and still to this day.”
This user clearly wasn’t paying attention or stopped watching. The doc says that the Portuguese were the first to conduct AFRICAN slave trading. The people posting low ratings clearly have DEEP issues of their own.
Was this the best produced documentary of all time? No. Was it better than most? Yes. I learned a heck of a lot of stuff not taught in my history classes, done so in a way that was captivating. If you want to learn some history, not from an essentialism American history background, then this is the movie for you.
Let’s keep history from repeating itself. Have a nice day!
White people are not going to like this
“I love being black, i want what being black and black people have given to America. “
The ending is a chilling warning that we have a new generation of people who are now able to quantify what justice and entitlement mean.
If it’s not written down it doesn’t exist and this one series narrates the hard truth everyone has tried so hard to ignore & cover up.
How do you pay for the crimes of your previous generation especially when the off springs of the victims are still suffering from it today with no justice served and no form of compensation yet the off springs of the predators are thriving off that crime committed.
Slavery is a crime. Rape & sexual abuse is a crime. Murder is a crime.
If you will not face justice, pay.
Half Truths
First lie found less than 10 minutes in. Netflix has a poor track record of producing factual documentaries. It begins with stating the Portuguese began slave trading and was the first offender of such. As we know, slave trading has existed since the dawn of civilization and still to this day. Ancient Egyptians as one example, as well as Vikings for another example. There is a lot of truth to this film and I appreciate and respect that. There are also a lot of half truths, and blatant lies which I do not appreciate or respect. Information taken out of context and portrayed as absolute truth. George Floyd for example, evidence shows more than one camera angle presented via mass media- the accuracy of full evidentiary support is not present in this documentary. He’s portrayed as a martyr. Kyle Rittenhouse case, as his photo was inserted here has no relationships to black history, given no black people were involved in the case. Lots of misleading photos of people interjected that just don’t apply to the subject at hand.
