Badhaai Do Storyline

Shardul Thakur is a police office posted to Dehradhun, a police station for women. He is under constant pressure from his family to get married, but he isn’t too keen on the idea because he’s gay. Sumi (Bhumi Pednekar) works as a PE (Phys Ed) teacher in a high school. She, too, is being pressured by her family to get married but she is lesbian. She registers on a dating app where she ‘meets’ an attractive woman and they chat for a while. Upon meeting ‘her’, she finds that the person is actually a man with a fake account. He tries to blackmail Sumi, saying that he will expose her to her family if she doesn’t agree to sleep with him. She goes to the police with her complaint. The person who takes down her details is Shardul. When he guesses that Sumi is lesbian, he proposes a plan: they will get married to get their families off their back. Problems arise, though, when their families continue to meddle in their lives and pressure them to have children.

My 10 stars is not for the subject alone

This one was an actually a really really well made movie and I am surprised at some “flaws” that some reviewers have pointed out.. I usually watch movies at 1.25x speed, I’m used to it but this one, I watched at a normal speed and the scenes in this movie were so well made, so realistic, the romance, the fear the freedom.. I could feel it myself and I can not, I do not see the flaws everyone else seems to see.. this movie was perfect in every sense.. loved it!

Laughed all the way but cried my eyes out in the end

This is a wonder of a movie. It’s almost laugh a minute funny feel good film. It’s what “Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdaan” wanted to be but utterly failed. This will put a smile on your face for a long time. The emotional scenes will leave a lump in your throat and that’s a testament to the writing, direction and acting. The thought that’s gone into every aspect of this film is just incredible. Hats off to the makers!

Great movie

The lead actors in this movie are Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar are considered as the best natural actors of bollywood, needs no comment on their acting. They always give their best and are always best. Anotherfemale actor in lead role is Chum Darang from Arunachal Pradesh has acted very well. Though not a very big role but her impact is very strong. The trailer of the movie already revealed that it is about LGBT community…but it is presented in the movie in a very fresh and new way. It has a message for everyone that we should understand and respect the LGBT community. We should understand that this is very natural and should be accepted by our society. This movie is also about “lavender marriage”…where two homosexual people agree to marry each other so that they can live in society peacefully. Overall a very good movie with very strong message for all. The only drawback is that it is stretched a little otherwise its a complete entertainer with so many good comedy timings.
