Ladybug & Cat Noir: Awakening Movie Reviews

Don’t fall prey to the low ratings. If you are a Miraculous fan then you will fall in love with this movie

This movie is literally everything a Miraculous fan wanted it to be any simple alternate universe. It’s seriously a treat in every way. Marinette and Adrien are extremely nicely fleshed out within less than 2 hours which is simply a job well done. The natural behavior of the two is simply way more endearing than the show and the animation with beautiful music just tops it all. The way the movie focuses on one particular trait of both the mains and how they struggle out of it with the outer dread in the form of a better fleshed Hawkmoth is seriously better than the show. The show never tried to point it out on a single behavioral weakness of the characters which made them the way they are which the movie does better.

Its seriously sad it wasnt released in theatre everywhere because its way better on a bigger screen.

Just go for it even when you don’t know the characters, you will love ittttttttt!!!!!!

kinda underwhelming tbh?

As someone who’s been following this franchise for the last 6 years, i have to say that i was incredibly excited for this movie. But now i’ve watched it, and it just felt very… mediocre. The animation was gorgeous and the music for the most part really good, and the soundtrack was pretty great too. But plot wise? It was better than the show, but still kinda bad. I felt like it was really poorly paced, and the lore wasn’t quite explained to a proper extent? Like, they talked about the wish, but they never went into proper detail about it, which for people being introduced to the franchise for the first time, might be pretty confusing. As for the ships… I feel like Adrinette didn’t have very much screentime. How is anyone supposed to want this ship to sail if they got like 2 minutes of screetime together? But Ladynoir got a lot of screen time, which was cute, but even then felt kinda rushed. Like i get that the movie is supposed to take place over an entire school year, but personally i felt like things went too fast. Adrien’s character kinda had me confused too? Like initially he’s introduced as lonely and quiet and kinda awkward, but like literally after meeting Ladybug he’s cocky and self-confident as Adrien, which didn’t really feel right…? Like yeah, Cat Noir is cocky and self-confident, but being Cat is supposed to be Adrien’s outlet, his way of expressing himself without getting in trouble by his father, so seeing Adrien be cocky right away just didn’t sit right with me. There was no relationship between Chloe and Adrien either, which kinda sucked because Chloe talked about knowing Adrien a couple of times, but not once do we see them with each other. Also, let’s talk about Gabriel, because, he was decent for the most part, but I felt like his character was kinda inconsistent at times. Like, one minute he’s like “I have nothing left to loose!” and the next he’s worrying over Adrien. Like make up your mind, either commit to being the big bad evil, or go back to making clothes, like jeez. Also, not a fan of his redemption. Like if I found out that I had been fighting my father, who had been causing chaos all over my home city and endangering people, under no circumstances would I have hugged him or forgiven him. I would’ve sent him straight to prison, no questions asked. But I guess Adrien’s too nice for that. Plagg was basically non-existent too, like he farted a lot in one scene (which made me VERY uncomfortable) but like that was it, which compared to Marinette and Tikki’s relationship… idk it left a lot to be desired. Marinette was generally pretty good, though I just really wish they fleshed out her relationship with Adrien a bit more. Her character arc was pretty good, albeit sometimes it felt like we were going backwards. I wish that they had Cristina Vee sing for Marinette rather than Lou though. It kinda caught me off guard whenever she’d start to sing due to the difference in her speaking and singing voices. Having said that though, I think the movie was still entertaining, and definitely better than the show. Give it a watch.

The singing voices don’t match lol

It is so weird seeing ladybug talk in her normal voice and then she starts to sing… the voices not matching are so jarring lol me and my daughter just looked at each other and busted out laughing. It really doesn’t fit. Just the sound of her singing voice…it just doesn’t fit! It’s way too different. She had a high pitched, peppy talking voice and then a low, raspy singing voice. I wouldn’t have minded the songs if this wasn’t the case but it’s way too obvious and way too weird sounding. My kids love the show and I ended up watching the movie with them…I still fully enjoyed the movie tho. And the animation is great obviously. I definitely recommend the movie to any kids/teens…it’s cute, funny, and a fun super hero story equal between girls and boys.
