Keep It Up, Jack Movie Reviews

Sue Longhurst has never been sexier!

As saucy British sex comedies go this certainly ain’t the best, but what makes ‘Keep it Up Jack’ so eminently watchable is the central performance by beautiful actress Sue Longhurst. Blonde bombshell Sue was one of the UK’s premier beauties during the Seventies and this movie show her off at her most delicious and alluring. An early scene of Miss Longhurst writhing around on her silk bed sheets is frankly eye-popping and thereafter Sue doesn’t miss an opportunity to strip off and display her stunning curves.

Despite being supported by an able cast of fellow lissom lovelies like Linda Regan, Jenny Westbrook and top-heavy Veronica Pieters, Sue makes this movie her own and shines in every one of her scenes. She’s a fine actress, absolutely adorable to look at and is one of the sexiest British stars ever!

Drag act comedy and endless nudity

It says something about AUNTIE that it makes the similarly-themed KEEP IT UP DOWNSTAIRS, also starring Sue Longhurst, look positively good by comparison. This one’s the product of sexploitation stalwart Derek Ford, and it’s a silly farce about an entertainer who inherits an old mansion that just so happens to double as a brothel.

There’s little more story to it than that. Pretty much all of the film’s humour involves the main character dressing up as various characters, typically as the titular character, so if the sight of a bad actor in drag amuses you then this might be the film for you. Me, I didn’t care for the tired antics of Mark Jones and I started to find him tiresome about five minutes in, making the rest of the film a slog.

This being a sexploitation comedy, AUNTIE features endless wall-to-wall nudity from the female cast members (and occasionally the male). Longhurst herself dominates the proceedings, looking very lovely (although not quite as lovely as she did in period costume in KEEP IT UP DOWNSTAIRS). The likes of Linda Regan, Jennifer Westbrook, and Veronica Peters supply girlish charm and humour and plenty of flesh. As it standard for the genre, there are a few brief cameos for some old timers including Queenie Watts, Frank Thornton, and Paul Whitsun-Jones, but as a comedy this film’s pretty tawdry if not downright diabolical.
