Garbage

I have never reviewed a movie on IMDb before. This inspired me to do so. To be fair, I could not make it past the 20 minute mark, and a review should be by someone who has watched the movie in its entirety, however, I believe if a movie is SO BAD you can’t even sit through it, that itself says something.

Kudos to the people who suffered through it, giving it a chance, but my husband and I couldn’t find the remote fast enough! We enjoy stupid humor, but there’s a difference between intentionally stupid and just plain dumb. B movies can be great if they’re done the right way, this wasn’t even B movie quality. Z maybe. The attempts at humor (that I saw) could have been written by a 10 year old who finds farts hysterical. Not just funny, fall-on- the-floor annoying funny. The story could have been good if it was written better, and maybe it got better later, but I didn’t stick around to find out.

A few people who actually wasted their lives on this trash gave much more in depth reviews. They can explain better why you shouldn’t subject yourself to such drivel. Heed their warnings!

Lost a few brain cells attempting to endure this

Michael and Courtney are a couple with trouble in the bedroom due to an overtly horny mostly unseen demon pleasing Courtney nightly in this completely laugh-free spoof of Paranormal Activity (which is sadly threatening to become its own sub-genre as of late)

The two leads lack chemistry or comedic timing, the later might’ve even been disconcerting had the writing been anything above the sub-par crap that it is. The sheer fact that I sat through it all speaks more to my sheer boredom than anything else or perhaps hopeless positivity that this would get better (ie. vaguely watchable) Spoiler alert: it does not. This awfulness is streaming on Netflix currently but I advise you to steer clear of it.

Where did the comedy go…?

For a spoof on the “Paranormal Activity” movie and that type of genre in general, then “Paranormal Whacktivity” was fairly boring and uneventful. And actually for a comedy, then “Paranormal Whacktivity” was frightfully devoid of laughs and funny moments.

The story is about a young couple that have moved into a new house, but there is something in the house with them. The woman is never in the mood to be intimate with the guy, who is in turn always in the mood. They seek out the help of a psychic to find out more about the demonic entity that is haunting the house.

I will say that the movie did have potential, in regards to the story, especially because it is usually always nice with a spoof movie. However, nothing just clicked in this movie, and the jokes were lame and lacking humor. I can honestly say that I didn’t laugh a single time throughout the entire movie. Yet, still I watched the movie to the end, because it might just pull out something surprising.

But it didn’t.

Production-wise, then “Paranormal Whacktivity” was actually quite good, and the acting was adequate – not great – but adequate. And also effects-wise, then the movie was alright. Not superb or spectacular in any way, though, mind you.

However, it was just really difficult to find anything overly enjoyable about this movie. And truth be told, then there are some much better “Paranormal Activity” spoofs available.

Aliens And Humans Interact

I was horrified to see the low score assigned to this film.

There was real creativity and intention involved. The film took its time. How often do actors dress the part! How often does the camera allow the time to appreciate and enjoy.

We have distinct characters here, revealed more by observation than dialogue. I was impressed by the hungry nurse and her disordered patients.

Gory in some places. Does the film try to corrupt us into perversions of decapitation ands cannibalism.

Good use of sound and colour. Bold film making.

Distinct and original.

I found the leading actress very appealing and challenging. She reminded me of Donatella Versace. I also enjoyed the Gothic human character.

Under the skin – The trash version

This movie is grotesque… I don’t know how i made it through and have to admit some shuttling was involved as this movie is sloooooooww.

The basic idea is following an alien shapeshifter that took the body of a porn actress nearing retirement in way too high heels who for some reasong went digging for money somewhere in the desert.

That opening scene of the alien appearing in the desert and taking the body of a woman digging for money in high heels and cocktail dress is unbelievable. Either you turn it off (and there is plenty of reaons from bad acting to absolute nonsense details and weird to bad CGI) or you want to know what the hell the director was going for with this movie.

Basically it feels like a softcore prn producer watched “Under the skin” and though… I can do that! So prepare for a weird MILF alien walking around, observing weird situations and then killig weird people in weird ways.

The feeling is similar arthouse but heavily collides with the actresses who have a strong OnlyFans vibe and the sudden explosions of gore (literally).

Some of the weird exagerrated facial expressions are incredibly funny. I think they were meant to be creepy but most of the time border on the comedic if not crossing that border for good. The last time I saw this style was in Pierre Tsigaridis movies which played it in a real unsettling way in “I who have no one” and “Two witches”. This director obviously failed and took on a project that did not really work with his way too obvious softcore background.

I have to admit this project is ballsy in its own way, but its not a good movie. I won’t even try to explain the drawn out “story”… like “Under the skin” the vibe obviously was more important to the director and i guess he failed in what he wanted to do but still made a weirdly interesting movie that reminds of a car crash you can’t look away from. Definitly a good choice for funny bad movie night! Look out for the incredible pizza scene… classic!

Great movie!

This excellent movie right here was a hidden gem I recently found on tubi! Quid games is a for sure must see!!!! It started out as a group of friends all getting an invite to a “party” and it was all down hill from there for them! There was multiple plot twists and “games” they had to undergo in order to win this game they were playing. They soon had to reveal a few of their dirty little secrets to try and solve why these unfortunate events were happening to them. All in all, this is a great movie! The actors did a great job, the writers did an excellent job and I can’t wait to see more films from them!

Changed my life

two and a half minutes

Two and a half minutes is all I could watch of this, so it’s not a fair review. What I did see is, is terrible acting, they stand like high school drama kids while they deliver their lines with all the emotion of a boiled turnip.

Special effects are something to behold. It’s two and a half minutes in, so it can’t be a spoiler. When the girl has her head beaten in by a rock, the blood on her face is so stick and congealed it looks like someone just slathered pudding on her face.

Maybe this gets better, but I I’m not sure how that’s possible judging by the opening gambit. ( text filler to reach limit )

“Blubberella” is without a doubt one of Uwe Boll’s worst films… A tedious, unfunny “comedy” that is just hard to watch…

I love-hate Uwe Boll. That’s the best way to describe my feelings towards him.

I absolutely hate the man, and I hate his films as honest attempts at art. However, I do love the “character” of Uwe Boll, and I love his films in an ironic, “so bad, they’re good” kind of way.

So I came into “Blubberella” from a fairly open place, expecting if nothing else, an amusingly-awful film. The problem is, this is an attempt at a comedy. When a film is meant to be serious, and it fails, it usually works in that sort-of ironic way because it’s failed drama ilicits unintentional laughs. However, a bad comedy just sucks, because it fails in every respect. A failed dramatic scene can work if it becomes so bad, it’s funny. However, no matter what, an unfunny joke is never funny, even in an unintentional way. It’s just painful.

And that’s this film in a nutshell- painful and full of unfunny jokes.

For some background, this film was shot at the same time as another of Boll’s films, “BloodRayne III: The Third Reich”, which was actually one of his better films, because he understood that it wasn’t a good movie, and simply tried to make it entertaining. Hence, it worked as mindless thrills with lots of blood and sex, like a 70’s exploitation film. I’d actually recommend it, it’s a lot better than the first two, which were just foul.

This film shares the entire same cast and crew as that film, and re-uses all of the sets, props and costumes. This film was basically made to be a cheap cash-in- Boll could film two movies for the price of one and release them separately.

Lindsay Hollister stars as the title character “Blubberella”, whose hobbies include eating and killing Nazi’s. She’s a damphire- a half-human, half-vampire living in Nazi Germany during World War II. She spends her time killing Nazi’s, mainly to steal their food it seems. (Her opening kill features her slaughtering a Nazi for his sub-sandwich)

Hollister, to her credit, at least tries, and is perky and fun, but the script is so sloppy, there’s no enjoyment in her performance. Other actors include Clint Howard, Brendan Fletcher and Michael Pare, and they all give lukewarm-to-craptastic performances. Nobody really has their heart in this, and they’re all about two seconds from looking at the camera and apologizing to the viewer for this filth.

There is a vague attempt at a plot, including a resistance group or something (I don’t know specifics, I only watched the first half, and I wasn’t paying attention, it was so dull), but it’s all just a scam to cram a lot of bad stereotype jokes down our throat.

There is almost nothing to say about this film, good or bad. It’s just bland. Also, a lot of the jokes are too random and have no structure. Despite taking place in WWII, Blubberella has a laptop computer and uses a Jewish dating website, there are passing references to Elvis Presley and George W. Bush, etc. Sure, anachronistic humor can be funny, but it has to have a basis within the reality of the film, and there is no attempt at setting up any internal logic here.

There’s also a lot of horrible stereotyping of groups such as the obese, gays, etc, and it’s really offensive. And not in the good way, where taboos are pushed and ideas are parodied, but more in a grade-school bully kind of way. There’s no love or respect in the offensive humor- you get the feeling that Boll really is just very jaded and spiteful and hateful of everyone he makes fun of.

There’s nothing to say about this film beyond that. It’s 80-or-so minutes of unfunny, offensive stereotyping, and is extremely cheaply made. It’s one of Boll’s worse films (though from from his absolute worse), and isn’t worth checking out. Skip it. A 1 out of 10.

An Uwe boll movie, what did you expect?

Lindsay Hollister is the lead actress playing a half human / half vampire living in 1940 Nazi Germany… in her perfectly normal 2011 apartment with a smartphone, net access, Mac computer and I do know what insert Apple product here… Yes it’s that kind of movie.

The movie is a shot for shot parody of Blood Rayne 3. I think you can guess what the joke is from that horrendous title.

Sadly this movie only works as an inside joke as all the “funny” bits were simply to change one thing from the shot of the original movie. If you don’t have that movie memorize or even bothered to see it then you won’t get the joke… and see how anti humor it is.

Make no mistake. This movie is offensive and the director went that extra mile to humiliate the lead actress for being plus size because…. I don’t know maybe he thinks pointing at people that aren’t stick figures is funny? It’s a shame because she’s actually good and totally wasted in this heap of trash.

Then you have Willam Belli who is simply FABULOUS! but no, here he is made to act the typical 90’s gay friend and then black face… there is an actor with black face in a 2011 movie. I’m serious!

This movie was bad, offensive and weird. If you know what you’re in for then you’ll get a few laughs out of it. Mostly for the wrong reasons but you can still have some stupid fun with it.

If on the other hand you are unfamiliar with this director’s work or blood rayne then take out your electric fan and will the stench of this heap away. You WILL hate it .

Boll’s worst and one of the worst films ever, too

You know, I recently watched Uwe Boll’s FAR CRY and thought to myself, Boll has actually made a decent film here. Perhaps he’s improving as a director. I’ve subsequently sat through a kind of double-bill of AUSCHWITZ and now this, and I have to revoke that thought. Because AUSCHWITZ was bad, but BLUBBERELLA is by far Boll’s worst film ever, as well as one of the worst films I’ve ever had the misfortune to sit through.

The joke is that Blubberella is a morbidly obese girl who fights Nazis in some kind of amateur WW2 setting. There’s also some nonsense about her being half vampire although that has nothing to do with the story. Instead, what we get is a pantomime-style film with constant and offensive jokes about overweight people, different nationalities, and anything else. There’s even a scene of blackface which has to be seen to be believed.

Lindsay Hollister as the main actress is humiliated throughout and I felt acutely sorry for her. Michael Pare must be wondering how far his fortunes can sink by appearing in this. The only decent actor is Clint Howard playing a creepy doctor in the usual Clint Howard style, but that’s it. Uwe Boll’s cameo as Hitler is the worst ever. The crude sexual jokes and the like take the biscuit and the film is too cheap to include any action, effects, or real storyline. It’s absolutely awful in every way and I wish I’d never seen it.

Awful

May be the worst movie I have ever seen. Plot, Acting, Dialogue – all completely awful.

If you feel like hating life for 1hr 15min just watch it.

Wow – how does stuff like this get made? And why did I watch it? The story is just painful. Half the movie takes place in a campaign fund-raising scene. Seriously they couldn’t afford more extras? And the characters in that scene are just too painful. There are some wacky subplots that just go nowhere.

The acting is almost comical and feels like a high school acting project or something. wow.

Awful is too kind a word

The only other reviewer calls this “feature” awful. Trust me when I say that is too kind a word. I usually try to find something redeeming in most films I watch, but there is simply nothing here. I often wonder, when I see productions like these with big names in them (Zane, Roberts, Givens-does she count?), if those people are desperate for money. I know Zane just had a show recently on ABC that was canceled, and Roberts does some decent work here and there, but their decision-making skill have to be called into question when they attach their names to this.

Subplots that are sort of relevant but don’t really make sense and don’t come to a resolution, bad acting all around, horrible editing and shot selection, horrific special effects, and production value that looks as if it was shot with a hand-held digital camera all contribute to this “fine” feature.

Avoid at all costs. Please. I beg of you….

I turned it off after 20 minutes…

Oh dear, very few films have made me stop watching before they’re finished. This film made me stop watching it before it had really started!

The acting is like something you might see on a Soap Opera or Sci-Fi channel movie. The fake accents are awful. Not one character in the film made me believe they weren’t just reading lines from a script.

20 Minutes in I decided that I couldn’t take anymore of this tripe so turned it off. Looking at the other reviews of this ‘movie’ it appears I saved myself from wasting time.

I didn’t even get to see Billy Zane much, then again how many good movies has he been in???

The trailer made it look watchable but it’s not!!!

had low expectations, turned out even worse

This is my 1st review, and you might wonder why i write it for this movie……well, i don’t want u to suffer for 2 hours like i did. This is the worst kind of comedy!!

Obvious unintelligent double meaning jokes which back in 8th grade too would barely make me chuckle.

I was high (yes, that was a factor in why we decided to go for the movie in the 1st place) when i went in for the movie, and all i could think of during the movie was my rotting brain-cells.

The only plus of the movie was Sunny Leone…..u can like her or love her, but u just can’t hate her. Even with her terrible acting, this bombshell of a woman just can’t be overlooked.

The only parts i liked were of her in sexy getup’s (don’t judge me i’m just a guy….programmed by nature to get attracted to the attractive ones from the opposite sex)

In case you decide to still go for the movie or have already had the misfortune of watching it, you have my condolences

Horrible and not even funny

Bollywood off recent suddenly found a new success formula, starting from MASTI, KYA KOOL HAI HUM and many more sex comedies, sadly this formula has got outdated and every tom dick and harry are trying their luck in bringing in sex comedies. Just after last week’s Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 we have Mastizaade. Both films having Tusshar Kapoor trying his luck for a hit. Sadly this time we have talented Vir Das giving him company and also Sunny Leone trying yet again to cash on her sex image. This time we have 2 Sunny Leones. Sadly the film doesn’t even make you laugh, it looks like a child was entrusted the job to write the screenplay, it’ not even funny From Whats App Jokes, FB Jokes and all sort of jokes Direction is awful by Milap Zaveri, he proves that writing dialogues and direction are 2 different things Music is okay

Tusshar Kapoor seems to have stuck into a rut and is getting overbearing with every film, he doesn’t even look like a sex addict though he tries hard but he is getting irritating Even Vir Das seems uncomfortable in parts, he is decent but nothing great Sunny Leone with a dubbed voice is awful in both roles, anywayz expecting acting from her is too much Suresh Menon’s gay act fails, Shaad Randhawa is awful Asrani is as usual

What Do You Expect? ♦ Grade F

It’s only January and we already have two sex comedies that are not worth even a single dime.

Sunny (Kapoor) and Aditya (Das) are two womanizers who philander their way to ceaseless sexual gratification. However, twin sisters Lily and Laila (both Leone) inspire these bachelors to take commitment seriously. What inspires them? Of course the hot bod. The rest of the plot revolves around Sunny and Aditya’s attempts to woo these sisters while the narrative simultaneously smothers its audience with a crowd of unwanted, cringe-worthy characters.

If you did watch Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3 in spite of my warning, then you will understand that Mastizaade is its cousin. Only this one is more mature and more porn-like. Nevertheless, it is full of crass, lousy dialogs that uses pun to create humor, and baseless story arcs.

Having said that, there is not much difference between Hollywood and Bollywood sex comedies for they are both made to appeal the male gaze. And Mastizaade is no different. While I do not expect much from Kapoor, Das playing such a role is a disappointment – the second time after he ran behind Miss Ranaut in Revolver Rani (2014). Leone is fine, but it’s sad to learn that she will and can only work in such films because certainly Sooraj Barjatya is not gonna cast her in his follow-up to that disastrous Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). Honestly, she cannot act.

BOTTOM LINE: Milap Zaveri’s Mastizaade is a formulaic sex comedy that is neither funny nor appealing. Avoid!

You will regret ever having heard of this garbage.

Words fail me.

Parody: (noun) “an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect.”

I blame people like Friedberg and Seltzer for diluting what parody actually means. It used to mean that there was some care put into it. Movies like “Airplane!” got it. Movies like “Top Secret” got it. Movies like “Hot Shots” got it. But then at some point it because less about crafting a visual joke or a situation and it just became spewing a catchphrase, going for the obvious joke and pop culture references.

So what happens in a movie that is parodying what is essentially pop culture? You get this. An unfunny utterly cringe worthy movie.

There is nothing positive to say about it. Literally nothing. Avoid this at all costs.

What the hell did I just watch? More importantly, why did I watch most of this? I was genuinely embarrassed for the actors and actresses in this hilarity. I can only hope some agents lost their jobs over this piece of crap. Holy moly Batman, this is bad.

Ear-lina, never do this again. Black women portrayed in the worst context. Auntie messing up lines . Terrible blocking in scenes. Dude saying ”am-u-lance.” Scarb ebonics. The main character falling out her clothes. Hair and nails never changing over months. Flaky lace-fronts. I cried laughing when ol girl said ”WE WENT TO THE CONSURT …THIS WEEKEND..INALANA.” The female detective looking at the camera was hilariously bad. Every time a woman mentioned drinking, promiscuity, or any other negative character trait, a gospel song would play. Tonality wrong af. Got black women looking and sounding like clowns. This has stage play published for screen written all over it.

Zombie Undead Storyline

A car roars through the darkened country roads. Inside, a distraught Sarah, holding her stricken dad, Mark, is desperately trying to stem the flow of blood. Indi Brit Zombies

This is a zombie movie. There are zombies. People get chased and consumed. I don’t think it is giving away much to say that.

On the negative side, the storyline is unsurprising and the acting is variable. Perhaps that is why some of the reviews and ratings of this movie have been negative.

But the impressive things are the stylish look, sharp editing and satisfying music. I liked it, anyway. I saw it in a cinema alongside a load of enthusiastic zombie fans, and we all had a great time.

If you get this movie expecting it to be Avatar, you are sure going to be disappointed. But if you get it knowing it is an indi Brit zombie flic, then you can sit back and enjoy the gore.

There are worse zombie movies out there…

Funny how this movie scored such low rating. I am a huge zombie aficionado, but I must say that “Zombie Undead” is not amongst the worst of zombie movies that I have seen. Yeah, this was low budget, and yeah it was amateurish, but the director did a fair enough job, and the actors and actresses in the movie seemed to have fun and seemed to be in it for the love of zombie movies.

Story-wise, then “Zombie Undead” is as generic and textbook as it comes. A group of people become trapped in the hospital during a strange outbreak that causes the dead to come back to life (well, sort of) and with a ravenous hunger for living flesh.

Everything in the movie was straight out of the ‘How to make a zombie movie for dummies’ book, I will say that much. But still, it was done with a clear ambition and a clear motivation for the zombie genre, and that was what held the movie afloat.

Yes, there were flaws in the movie, obvious and bad flaws that should have been caught in the editing room. For starters, the woman being devoured in a hospital room blinked in one scene. And also in the lavatory scene, you could clearly see the camera man reflected in the metallic hand dryer apparatus on the wall. And also Michael, Jay’s younger brother, well you saw his eyes fluttering underneath the closed eyelids, even when he was supposed to be dead.

But still, the movie was a well-meant attempt, and I think they pulled it off nice enough. Sure, this isn’t the kind of movie that you will watch a second time around, as the movie just didn’t have that much to offer. But for a low budget movie it wasn’t too shabby.

There is a fair amount of blood and gore in the movie. Mind you, that the effects here were well-meant, but came off a bit questionable and not overly believable.

There are far worse low budget zombie movies out on the market. And “Zombie Undead” is worthy enough of a watching late at night if you are having a zombie marathon and is starting to run out of major Hollywood produced zombie movies.

Utter piece of crap!

After 45 minutes of “Zombie Undead” I fell asleep. Woke up 10 minutes later, renamed it “Directors family & friends in extremely bad make up” – and didn’t bother to rewind, as the 10 minutes of sleep probably saved me from further agony. I just wanted it to be over and forgotten as soon as possible – just as the careers of anyone who had anything to do with this “film”. Listening to paint dry is more entertaining than this, having my left arm ripped right out of the socket is less painful than watching this, watching snails crawl across a piece of cabbage is more exciting than this, a fart in outer space has more impact than this, a deaf hamster with one eye and a wooden leg can act better than this…etc. etc…you get the general idea? Just stay away…

Oh My Ghost Storyline

The plot of the movie begins with a warning about the ghost that has been terrorizing the village. Rajendra, who is playing the flute, tells the people that a man named Sathish can save them from the ghost. Sathish and Ramesh Thilak are an upcoming director and cameraman respectively, with Sathish being known for his B-grade and erotic movies. Sathish’s attempt to pitch a story to a movie producer goes awry, and he, along with Ramesh and their agent, are beaten up.Later, their agent provides Sathish with the contact of another producer, who agrees to finance the film if Sathish can help him with his personal problem. Meanwhile, Sathish’s girlfriend experiences a nightmare in which she is killed by Sunny Leone. She visits a baba to help her get rid of her nightmares. The crew struggles to find a suitable female lead for the film until a girl comes along, and they begin shooting the movie in their house. During the filming, Sathish’s girlfriend unexpectedly arrives and witnesses a scene that disturbs her. They attempt to cover it up by making it seem like a police interrogation scene. Sathish and Ramesh decide to shoot a song for the film, and after the shoot, they get drunk and stumble home.They encounter a group performing an exorcism, and a scuffle ensues, forcing them to flee. She then asks Raja Guru to find men capable of matching her strength. Yogi Baba, the current Raja Guru, narrates how Sunny’s father was a womanizer, and she was disgusted by his actions. She wanted to take revenge on all men and would often go to the village to kill them. When the king and Raja Guru tried to poison her, she killed them both. Yogi Baba, who looks like his father, wants to take revenge on Sunny for killing his father. He tried to assassinate her with the help of a man, but she catches the spear and kills the assassin. Sunny dislikes Sathish’s performance and goes from village to village to kill him. Eventually, Sathish and his crew discover the truth about Sunny and attempt to save themselves from her wrath.

Confusing censoring

Okay the film in itself is bad, poor writing, poor dialogue, poor effects. Everything about it seems contrived, uninspired and ultimately, worst of all, boring. There is nothing funny or humorous about this “comedy horror” neither is there anything frightening or even unsettling in the slightest. It seems to define comedy as silly faces and horror as an occasional flash of lightning.

Most confusing though is the censorship. There are upskirt shots, revealing outfits and provocative dancing, though when cleavage is on screen it’s too much and they put an obnoxious blur over it which serves to draw the eye to the area even more because it’s distracting. The film starts with a disclaimer that it does not encourage violence against women, however the movie features scenes of battle, a female ruler slaughtering hordes of men without remorse and even keeping a man in a cage in her chambers. It would atleast make sense if they said “this film does not encourage violence of any kind” but yet they chose to be exclusionary about it. It is confusing.

I gave a 1 beacuse…

…I couldn’t give a 0. They spent so much money on something with such a bad screenplay, dialogues and acting. Double meaning dialogues and scenes that doesn’t work at all, over glamour for no reason.

I understand the need and market for movies of this kind, but why don’t they make it good. The scary scenes doesn’t work with invoking any kind of scare or emotion. Even the cheap jump scares sections were so bad. Not scary and not funny. It’s neither there or neither here.

Had so many Vijay TV comedians in the movie, but they all were so underused. I really wish all the comedians (comali’s) from Vijay TV really get a character in the movie which justifies using them and gives them some acting scope.

A horrible waste of the studio’s money.

Who? What? Where? When? Why? The acting was terrible. Very robotic, rehearsed. I have seen all of the actors in this film in better roles. The screenplay was very elementary. By the end of this film, the story line was tied up. And Jeane Claude LaMarre should be tied up, too. So that he never attempts to write/direct another film.

Every western cliché in the book…

Must have to agree with the other reviewer. This has got to be the WORST movie, let alone western I have ever seen. Terrible acting, dialogue that was unimaginative and pathetic (let alone completely inappropriate for supposedly being in the 1800s), and oh, did I mention a battery pack prominently displayed on the back of one of the characters? I was waiting for the boom mike to fall in the middle of a scene. And the ending? The least I can say is that it was consistent with the rest of the movie…completely awful. And yes, it did contain every cliché in the book from the slow walk down the empty dusty road to the laughable “let’s remember when” shots when a main character dies. Luckily I saw this on free TV. Don’t waste your time.

Whoa whoa whoa-hold up

Alright, I got passed the horrible acting. I got passed the fact that Lil Kim was blasting some cannons and her arms or hands weren’t moving, I got passed the weaves, I got passed the colored contacts.

This is what killed it for me: In the scene where the four roses were sitting at the table arguing. Lisa-Raye and Monica Calhoun stand up and, and then Lil Kim gets up to break up any hostilities by saying, “Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Hold up. Let’s CHILL OUT here for a HOT SECOND.” I am a fan of the western movie genre, and I never heard anyone talk slang like this in any of Clint Eastwood’s movies.

If anyone thinks this movie deserves over a 1 rating, please tell me another movie that’s worse than Gang of Roses.

Flimsy story that works for teenagers

Flimsy story that works for teenagers

Where to begin, where to stop, in this ‘Jaws’ rip off made for TV?

Rolf Moeller plays a tough former marine diver, living with his daughter all alone on the Spanish island Mallorca. A shark is roaming the waters, but not your ordinary shark. An ancient species supposedly extinct since 100.000 years. A couple of people die, till the secret of the sharks existent is revealed and Rolf could finish his personal vendetta, since this very shark had killed his wife three year back…

Did you notice Rolf never took his shirt of in this flick? Great you hire 6’6′ actor Moeller and have him act in a leather jacket on a summer vacation island. I don’t expect Rolf to act, but pump it up man… The story is so flimsy its real hard not to laugh all the time through. Best part is Janet Biedermann, (German starlet) who appears out of nowhere so she can plug her singing career. SFX on the shark aren’t too bad for TV, while the sharks teeth are simply laughable. RTL produced this mindless story and shoots huge ratings, that’s how TV works – unfortunately

It’s really bad, but I liked it.

I watched an English dubbed version of this, and I liked it. It’s a bad, bad, bad movie but it’s enjoyable for a couple of reasons.

First, its fun to spot the ripoffs. The main plot is a mash of Jaws and Jurassic Park. I guess the makers really like Spielberg, because there’s also a sequence that looks just like it was lifted from Duel. It also rips off a scene from the Terminator. I bet there’s a bunch more ‘borrowed’ moments that I missed. Feel free to add more.

Second, there are a couple of ‘did that really just happen moments?’ in the film. There’s a rich playboy that pops up a couple of times that talks about the German Barbecue Association, and a band that plays a song all about 69, just to start. I’d also put the Terminator sequence in this category.

Finally, there’s just a bunch of stupid stuff, like helicopter pilots on long trips that don’t go more than 100 feet off the ground, poorly composited special effects, and some really bad dubbing, that merit pointing out to friends and making fun of.

To some up: it’s a bad movie, but its enjoyable with the right frame of mind. Or maybe my standards are just slipping.

Shugalum! shugalum!

When a grieving widow (Moeller) discovers that a prehistoric shark – Megalodon – is responsible for the death of a swimmer, he suspects it might also be the same shark that killed his wife and two other divers several years earlier. Convincing newly appointed micro-biologist (Stinshoff) proves relatively easy, but she’s oblivious to the grand scheme that has created the giant shark from living DNA recovered from a frozen specimen found in the Antarctic. Of all places to base a cutting edge cancer research facility, no doubt the idyllic Mediterranean tax haven of Mallorca would be the most sensible. At least that’s what the makers of this film would have the audience believe.

The over-used CGI shark is typically unrealistic and so out-of-proportion and scale that it scarcely conjures any excitement or thrills. Even the shark swarm in the first scene is disappointing, once again courtesy of the CGI effects that give every attack a video-game quality. This German production’s English dubbing is some of the worst (and unintentionally hilarious) you’ll come across – the sight of big Ralf running down the beach shouting “Shugalum, shugalum” (that’s meant to be “shark alarm, shark alarm” in Bavarian accent) a dozen times will have you in stitches. At least the producers had the foresight to anticipate the drudgery to which this would ultimately amount, and incorporated some quirky humour to lighten up the tone. There’s a number of genuine laughs (as opposed to the unintentional ones) throughout, one in particular paying homage to “The Terminator” which works well. The obese BBQ chef and his bevy of scantily clad accoutrements who lends Ralf a luxury car or two is also a comic highlight.

But despite the eclectic editing, sometimes witty dialogue, postcards of Mallorca and stylish stunt-work (some great car maneuvers and helicopter acrobatics), there’s little else to recommend this movie, which borrows heavily from several others of the ilk (“Deep Blue Sea” in particular), but achieves much less. Hanselmann’s bikini-clad villainy is perhaps the most worthwhile aspect in this whole travesty; that or Ralf’s physique, depending on your persuasion. Either way, it’s not enough to entertain a second time.
